Disabling Start Menu Shortcuts

5/10/2007

You can customize the list of standard Start Menu Shortcuts by editing the Start Menu Shortcuts component in Target Designer. You can disable the listed shortcuts, or add your own custom shortcuts. The Standard Start Menu Shortcuts component adds the same shortcuts as Windows XP Pro to the Start menu of your run-time image. Your run-time image may not include all of the programs linked to by the Standard Start Menu Shortcuts component, you can delete some of the shortcuts from the start menu.

To disable shortcuts in the Standard Menu Shortcuts component

  1. In Target Designer, from the View menu, select Resources.

  2. In the component browser, browse to Software\System\User interface\Shells\Windows Shell, and then add the Standard Start Menu Shortcuts component to your configuration.

  3. Expand the component, and then choose Resources. A listing of all the shortcut resources of the component appears in the detail pane.

  4. In the resource list, right-click the shortcuts you do not want to include, and then choose Disable.
