Winsock 2.0 Test v4 and v6 (Compact 2013)

3/26/2014

The Winsock 2.0 test (v4/v6) verifies that Winsock 2.0 and the transport stacks for IPv4 and IPv6 are present on the target device. The test also assesses the functionality of an Ethernet network driver by performing a simple data transfer.

Test Prerequisites

Your device must meet the following requirements before you run this test.

The following table shows the hardware requirements for the Winsock 2.0 test (v4/v6).

Requirement

Description

Network interface card (NIC)

NIC that is supported by the Ethernet network driver. Test cases 101 and 102 require a NIC.

The following table shows the software requirements for the Winsock 2.0 test (v4/v6).

Requirement

Description

Tux.exe

Tux test harness, required for executing the test

Kato.dll

Kato logging engine, required for logging test data

Ws2bvt.dll

Library that contains the test cases

Subtests

The following table lists the subtests included in this test.

SubTest ID

Description

1

Verifies the presence of the IPv4 networking stack.

2

Verifies the presence of the IPv6 networking stack.

101

Verifies that a NIC with an IPv4 address is installed and that the network driver for the NIC has a basic level of functionality.

102

Verifies that a NIC with an IPv6 address is installed and that the network driver for the NIC has a basic level of functionality.

Setting Up the Test

The Windows Embedded Compact-based device must have a NIC card or an Ethernet controller with the proper driver loaded.

Running the Test

The Winsock 2.0 test (v4/v6) executes the tux -o -d ws2bvt command line on default execution. No other command-line parameters are available for this test.

Verifying the Test

Verifies that a NIC with an IPv6 address is installed and that the network driver for the NIC has a basic level of functionality.

Troubleshooting the Test

  • For tests 1-2, ensure that the image contains the TCP/IP stack that supports IPv4 and/or IPv6.
  • For tests 101-102, ensure that the NIC card and the driver are installed correctly.
