Optimizing DirectSound Performance
This section offers some miscellaneous tips for improving the performance of DirectSound. The following topics are covered:

In addition, playback quality through DirectSound is sensitive to thread priorities. Sound quality can be compromised if a DirectSound playback thread is running concurrently with any other threads having a priority of 180 or greater. For more information, see Priority Levels.
