Using the Index

Similar to an index in a printed book, topics are often indexed under more than one entry.

To find a topic using the index, you should consider the following information:

Individual feature names are used as the primary index terms. For example, if you are trying to locate a topic about 1394 drivers, type 1394 or IEEE 1394. Information about the feature is used for the secondary index terms. Application development terms link to their corresponding application development topics, and driver development terms link to their corresponding driver development topics.
Index entries are grouped by technology or general terms. For example, if you are trying to locate information about networking technologies, type networking to see the available topics. If you are trying to find a list of different BSPs, type BSPs to see the available topics.
Application programming interfaces (APIs) are indexed by the full API name. You must know the exact API name or at least the beginning of the name to locate the topic associated with it through the index. For classes and interfaces, you must know the class or interface name. The primary index entry is the interface or class name. The methods belonging to the interfaces or class names are listed underneath their respective interfaces or class names.

To find a topic using the index

In the navigation pane, choose the Index tab.
In the Type in the keyword to find box, type a word or phrase about which you want to find information.

Select a word or phrase from the list.
Choose the Display button.
