CETK Tool Operation

The Windows CE .NET Test Kit (CETK) window allows you to select and run tests on a Windows CE–based device and view the results of the tests. The CETK window displays the target devices to which the CETK is connected and shows the peripheral devices detected by the CETK for each target device. Under each peripheral device, the CETK window shows the individual tests that you can run on the target device.

For each target device, you can enable or disable any test by selecting or clearing the check box next to the test.

If you right-click on a target device, a menu appears that allows you to start the tests that are selected for the target device. For more information about starting a test, see Running the CETK Tests. The menu also allows you to redetect the peripheral devices installed on the target device, select all or deselect all tests for the target device, or remove the target device from the CETK window.

The following table shows the menu options for the CETK.

Menu Description
Server On the Server menu, the Server Settings command allows you to specify the number of the port over which the server communicates with the target device. The Server Settings command also allows you to specify the directory on the server in which to store the results of any tests that run. The Exit command closes the CETK window.
View On the View menu, the Expand or Collapse command allows you to expand or collapse the selected node in the CETK window. You can expand the node if the node is currently collapsed or collapse the node if the node is currently expanded. The Status Bar command displays or hides the status bar for the CETK window.
Tests On the Tests menu, the User defined command launches the User-Defined Test Wizard. You can use the wizard to add a new test to the CETK, modify an existing test, or remove a test. For information about building a custom test module, see Building a Tux DLL with Platform Builder.
Note   When you add a test to the CETK, you must provide the name of the CPU for the target device. If you add a test that is to be run on a target device with the SH3DSP CPU, choose the SH3 CPU in the wizard. The CETK uses the same binaries for the SH3DSP CPU and the SH3 CPU. The CETK treats a target device with an SH3DSP CPU in the same manner as it treats an SH3–based device.

When you remove a test from the CETK, the binaries for the test are not removed, because the binaries may support more than a single test.

The Suite Editor, Export Test Suite, and Import Test Suite commands allow you to manage a suite of tests that you can apply to any target device in the CETK window. For more information, see Creating a Suite of Tests.

The Start/Stop tests and View results commands display menus that list the connected target devices. You can use these commands as an alternative to right-clicking on a target device in the CETK window. For more information, see Viewing the Results of a Test.

Help On the Help menu, the Help Topics command displays documentation for the CETK. The About Windows CE .NET Test Kit command displays copyright information for the CETK.

Note   If you created a custom test for the CETK tool that was included with a previous version of Windows CE .NET, you must recompile the test and then add the test to the CETK with the User-Defined Test Wizard.
