Restore the contents of a cluster quorum disk for all nodes in a cluster
Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2
To restore the contents of a cluster quorum disk for all nodes in a cluster
Open Backup.
The Backup or Restore Wizard starts by default, unless it is disabled.
Click Advanced Mode on the Backup or Restore Wizard.
Click the Restore and Manage Media tab, and then in Click to select the check box for any drive, folder, or file that you want to restore, click the box next to System State.
Click Start Restore.
On the Confirm Restore dialog box, click Advanced.
Select Restore the Cluster Registry to the quorum disk and all other nodes, then click OK.
This action will stop the Cluster service on the local node and restore the cluster configuration (the cluster registry file ClusDB located in the systemroot\cluster subdirectory) for that node.
For more information on backup and restore procedures, see "Backing up and restoring data" in Related Topics.
Reboot the node when prompted.
This will restart the Cluster service on the local node and stop the Cluster service on all other nodes in the cluster. Backup will then copy the restored quorum data from the restarted node to the cluster quorum disk and all other nodes in the cluster.
Start the Cluster service on the other nodes in the cluster.
For more information on starting the Cluster service, see "Start the Cluster service" in Related Topics.
Verify that the Cluster service restarted on all nodes.
Where?
- Computer Management/Services and Applications/Services
Important
- Backup will stop the Cluster service on all other nodes of the server cluster after the node that was restored reboots. The entire server cluster will therefore be down while the restored quorum data is copied to the quorum disk and the other nodes in the cluster.
Notes
You must be an administrator or a backup operator to restore System State data. For more information on permissions or user rights, see Related Topics.
To start Backup, click Start, point to All programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Backup.
Information about functional differences
- Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
