Client Installation Wizard

Users of a remote boot-enabled client computer can use the Client Installation Wizard to select installation options, operating systems, and maintenance and troubleshooting tools.

The wizard prompts the user for a user name, password, domain name, and other information as required. After the user's credentials have been validated, the wizard displays the installation options that are available to the user. After the user selects an option, the selected operating system installation image is copied to the client computer's local hard disk. You can predetermine some installation options using Group Policy.

Users of the Client Installation Wizard must type only standard ASCII characters (OEM characters 32-126) for user name, password, or domain name information. The Client Installation Wizard does not support extended ASCII character sets (such as those containing ü, é, or other extended characters).

Important

  • By default, the client computer's hard disk is reformatted during the operating system installation. Therefore, all locally stored files are removed during installation. To prevent the loss of important data, you should back up your files before installation. You can also choose not to reformat the computer's hard disk during installation.
