Security settings

The Group Policy object editor allows you to edit security settings for users or computers.

Where?

  • Group Policy object name/Computer (or User) Configuration/Windows Settings/Security Settings

With Security Settings, you can require minimum password complexity, control the ability to log on to computers remotely, enable software restriction policies, set IP security, and much more.

Note

  • Security settings under Account Policies for domain user accounts work when the Group Policy object is linked to a domain but are ignored when the Group Policy object is linked to an organizational unit. However, local accounts created on computers affected by the policy will have to follow restrictions defined in the GPO, even when the GPO is linked to an organizational unit.
