Find a shared folder

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To find a shared folder

  1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.

  2. In the console tree, right-click the domain node, and then click Find.

  3. In the Find list, click Shared Folders.

  4. On the Shared Folders tab, in Named, type the name of the folder you want to find.

  5. Click Find Now.

Notes

  • Performing this task does not require you to have administrative credentials. Therefore, as a security best practice, consider performing this task as a user without administrative credentials.

  • To open Active Directory Users and Computers, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Active Directory Users and Computers.

  • Use the Advanced tab for more powerful search options.

  • To find shared folders, you can also click

    Find objects in Active Directory on the toolbar.
