Configure the Round Robin Provider

This topic describes how to configure Application Request Routing (ARR) and the application servers in the server farm to use the Microsoft.Web.Arr.HostNameRoundRobin affinity provider. When you use this provider, ARR allocates and affinitizes host names to servers by using a round robin method. This means that host names are evenly distributed to each server, one at a time in a circular order. The host name affinity provider is applicable only if ARR is configured to be used in shared hosting scenarios.

To configure the Round Robin affinity provider

  1. Open IIS Manager.

  2. In the Connections pane, expand the server node and then expand the Server Farms node. Select your server farm that is configured for shared hosting.

  3. In the Server Farm pane, double-click Server Affinity.

  4. On the Server Affinity page, do the following:

    • Select the Use host name check box.

    • In the Host name affinity provider list, select Microsoft.Web.Arr.HostNameRoundRobin.

  5. In the Actions pane, click Apply.
