Sample Scenario Description
Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2
To illustrate how AD RMS, Office SharePoint Server, and AD FS can work together, this document presents a sample scenario that will show you how to configure the three components to work together.
The company City Power & Light wants to provide for collaboration between an internal team and a partner team in Trey Research to work on a new project. Business requirements include a need to protect sensitive information that is shared between the two companies. The administrator for City Power & Light has decided to implement AD RMS together with Office SharePoint Server 2007 and to leverage federated trust with Trey Research by using AD FS.
This scenario is based on the following assumptions:
Both organizations use Active Directory Domain Services.
Servers and clients are members of corresponding domains (cpandl.com for City Power & Light and treyresearch.net for Trey Research).
City Power & Light has AD RMS deployed in the cpandl.com forest.
City Power & Light has Office SharePoint Server 2007 deployed as its collaboration portal.
The following sections describe how AD RMS, Office SharePoint Server, and AD FS can work together to enable this scenario.
