Starting a new project with a new customer can be exciting, but it also comes with several unknowns. Your challenge is to quickly remove those unknowns so that you can start adding value to the project as quickly as possible. Even if you're an employee at a company that helps another department deploy or use Microsoft Dynamics 365, you still have a customer. Except they're considered internal customers.

If the project has recently begun, it's likely that everyone on the project team will be new to the customer unless they were part of the sales effort to win the project. Ideally, the sales team would provide a good handoff to the implementation team so that you can benefit from their discovery of the customer.

If you're joining a project that's already in progress, you have the benefit of being able to learn from your teammates who have been on the project for a while. Some projects include a team member from the customer as part of the core team. This approach can help the team become informed quickly because someone is available to provide the customer's perspective.
