Inbound advanced shipping notices

Completed

Advanced shipping notices (ASNs) notify you about vendor deliveries. They provide a means to convey information on the contents of a shipment. Additionally, they can help warehouse workers know when shipments are arriving and what their contents are so that they can prepare.

Workers can import inbound ASNs through the Inbound ASN V3 composite data entity. The composite data from this entity consists of data from the following individual entities:

  • Inbound load header
  • Shipment header
  • Load packing structures
  • Load packing structure cases
  • Load packing structure case lines
  • Load packing structure line entities

You can use the Inbound ASN V3 composite data entity for asynchronous integration, and it uses XML files for imports. The XML file contains several nodes, each representing some attribute from one of the preceding individual entities.

After you’ve imported the XML file, you can validate the results by going to Warehouse management > Loads > All loads. On this page, you can find a load that was created as part of an ASN import.

Note

Typically, you can find load IDs from viewing the results of the data job in which you carried out the import.

After opening the load, go to the Load FastTab and select the following tabs to view the values that are reflected in the XML file:

  • Ship and receive - Provides a Packing structure button in the Receive group, where you can view the shipping and receiving information.
  • Pallets - Shows the license plates that are based on the XML file.
  • Cases – Shows XYZ information.
  • Items – Shows ABC information.
