Create a GTIN code for a product
A Global Trade Identification Number (GTIN) is an identifier for trade items, developed by the international organization GS1. The GTIN number is used to look up product information in a database (often by entering the number through a barcode scanner pointed at an actual product) which may belong to a retailer, manufacturer, collector, researcher, or other entity.
The uniqueness of the identifier number is useful in establishing which product in one database corresponds to which product in another database, especially across organizations.
To create a GTIN code for a product follow these steps:
- Select Released product maintenance.
- Select Released products.
- Expand the Product image FactBox.
- In the list, find and select the desired record.
- On the Action Pane, select Manage inventory.
- Select GTIN codes.
- Select New.
- In the list, mark the selected row.
- In the Unit field, enter or select a value.
- In the GTIN code field, select an option.
- In the GTIN field, type a value.
- Close the page.
