What is the DMTF?

As you may know, WinRM and WMI are implementations of public standards -- WMI is our implementation of CIM, and WinRM is our implementation of the WS-Management protocol.  These are both published by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), a consortium of 160 companies and organizations that develops and promotes standards for systems management.  You can read more about them at https://www.dmtf.org/about.

    @Bob, can you clarify how our implementation doesn't respect the standards?  Our intent is to play well with the standards and any details you can provide will help us improve our product.

    @SteveLee Like listing all instances of CIM_OperatingSystem does not list the Win32_OperatingSystem instances, which prevents writing a client querying data in a OS-Agnostic way using ws-man?
