Procedura: convertire vari tipi di stringhe
In questo argomento viene illustrato come convertire diversi tipi di stringhe Visual C++ in altre stringhe. I tipi di stringhe trattati includono char *, wchar_t*, _bstr_t, CComBSTR, CString, basic_string e System.String. In tutti i casi, quando si converte una stringa in un nuovo tipo ne viene eseguita una copia. Tutte le modifiche apportate alla stringa nuova non avranno effetto sulla stringa originale, e viceversa.

Le stringhe di tipo C richiedono generalmente un byte per carattere, ma possono utilizzare anche due byte. Negli esempi seguenti le stringhe char * vengono talvolta definite stringhe di caratteri a più byte a causa dei dati in formato stringa risultanti dalla conversione dalle stringhe Unicode. CString si basa sul tipo di dati TCHAR, che a sua volta dipende dal fatto che il simbolo _UNICODE sia definito. Se _UNICODE non è definito, TCHAR viene definito come char e CString contiene una stringa di caratteri multibyte; se _UNICODE è definito, TCHAR viene definito wchar_t e CString contiene una stringa di caratteri di tipo "wide".
CStringA è sempre la versione della stringa multibyte di CString, CStringW è l'unica versione della stringa di caratteri di tipo "wide".
