Free Gears of War 2 Maps

As I have mentioned before, a good friend of mine got me addicted (much to the chagrin of my wife) to Gears of War 2, especially the multiplayer Horde matches.  Anyway, during the start of a game you can choose which map you want to play on, but what surprises me is how few people have the freely available Flashback Map Pack (you only get the option to play those maps if all players in the group have the maps).  In fact, my friend didn’t have the maps and he has had the game for months.

I think the reason for this is that the instructions for getting the maps are hidden behind the instruction booklet (who reads that, eh?) and are also not mentioned too obviously on the official website.  So, I thought I’d explain here as well, with the hope of getting a few more people to download them (just in case we meet online)!

Just open your Gears of War 2 box and take out the instruction book, along with the book you’ll also find a card (like the one in the below picture).  Flip the card over, scratch off the panel at the bottom and then enter the code shown into the XBOX marketplace which is available directly from the XBOX console.  From there, the maps will download and be immediately available inside the game.
