Windows 8: Too fast?
Yesterday after processing my pending pile of e-mails I decided to install the latest version of Windows on my laptop (was running the consumer preview). I used the bundled image provided by our IT department that, granted, simplifies a lot of things, but still, I was blown away by how fast Windows 8 installed; moreover I was pleasantly surprised (yet nostalgic, more on this later) that everything "just worked"; the touchscreen (I have a convertible), camera, mouse, touchpad, wifi, everything worked like a charm.
So, this is good right? Of course it is but, I couldn't avoid feeling a bit nostalgic remembering when installing an OS (not only windows) was an usually daunting task reserved for geeks; when after passing the initial screens you would have the certainty that something would have to be fixed, a missing driver, a setting here or there, etc. But with Windows 8 so far, things have worked right from the start. I can also "feel" (yeah, literally I have that 'sensation') that the RTM build is even faster than the consumer preview.
Great work Windows 8 team!

Agreed. I'm blown away by how fast it boots, shuts down, et. al. #rulz!Anonymous

Yeah! What happened to all the research and troubleshooting after upgrading?
