Increase in SharePoint 2010 data storage and more!

SharePoint 2010 customers can now build larger SharePoint farms with today’s announcement of increased storage limits from 200GB to 4TB when certain requirements are followed. In addition, SharePoint 2010 now supports an unlimited content database size for document archive scenarios when best practices and some restrictions are followed, helping remove storage barriers for some customers. By putting in place further testing and additional product improvements, the SharePoint development team has been able to expand SharePoint 2010’s capabilities and meet customer needs.

Thank you for your comment, Tyler. SharePoint Foundation 2010 provides support for up to 4TB per content database. SharePoint Server 2010 provides support for up to, and exceeding 4TB, providing the Document Center or Records Center Templates are applied on each Site Collection in databases exceeding 4TB. The Document Center and Records Center Templates (not available in SharePoint Foundation 2010) are designed to support document archive and records management scenarios through providing the necessary Feature set in support of managing large volumes of data.
