Configuration Wizard fails at 2nd step throwing the error "Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'in'"
In a SharePoint Farm where SQL Server is installed on one machine and SharePoint is on another, when the Configuration Wizard is run on the SharePoint Server, it fails at 2nd step throwing the following error:
Failed to create the configuration database.
An exception of type System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException was thrown. Additional exception information: Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'in'.
This error might occur due an application modifying the SQL Script over the Network, mostly an antivirus software. To resolve this issue, try to disable the antivirus and check if it helps. If the configuration wizard fails again after disabling the antivirus, then uninstall the antivirus and check the behavior.
