The Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Configuration utility enables Microsoft Dynamics AX administrators and developers to specify settings for Microsoft Dynamics AX clients and the system-wide .NET Business Connector. Configuration settings are read during startup. By default, configurations are stored in the Windows registry on the local computer, but you can also create configuration files and store the files on a network share. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 configuration files have a .axc extension. To open the utility, click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Configuration.
The following list describes some of the actions that you can complete by using this utility:
Change the Application Object Server (AOS) that a client connects to.
Specify a startup message and startup company.
Change the log directory.
Specify client/server encrypted communication settings.
Specify whether a system allows debugging.
Save a configuration file for use in a broad deployment of clients.
For large-scale deployments, we recommend that you deploy the utility on a network share. By deploying the configuration utility on a network share, you reduce administration overhead and enhance the security of your Microsoft Dynamics AX computing environment. To view the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Configuration utility Help, open the utility, and then click the Help button or view the Help here on Microsoft TechNet.
