How to Set Authorization Roles for the Commerce Server Health Monitoring Service

The Commerce Server Health Monitoring service is a local service that monitors the Commerce Server Web services that are defined on the computer. For the Commerce Server Health Monitoring service to monitor the Commerce Server Web services, you must grant the CSHealthMonitorSvc service account viewer access in the authorization stores.

You must install Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) 2007 and the SCOM Pack to use the Commerce Server Health Monitoring service.

The following procedure describes how to add the CSHealthMonitorSvc service account to the viewer authorization roles for each Web service. Perform this procedure on the computer where the Commerce Server Web services are run, in the production environment that you are monitoring.

To add the CSHealthMonitorSvc user to authorization roles

  1. Click Start, click Run, type azman.msc, and then click OK.

  2. In the Authorization Manager screen, expand the role assignment to \<authorization store name>.xml\<System name>\Role Assignments\<Role name> (for example, \CatalogAuthorizationStore.xml\CatalogandInventorySystem\Role Assignments\CatalogViewer).

  3. Right-click <Role name>, and then click Assign Windows Users and Groups.

  4. In the Select Users, Computers, or Groups dialog box, in the Enter the object names to select box, type the name of the Commerce Server Health Monitor user account (for example, CSHealthMonitorSvc). Click OK.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each authorization role in each Web service authorization store. When complete, you will have defined the following:

    Authorization store

    Role name

    CatalogAuthorizationStore.xml

    CatalogViewer

    MarketingAuthorizationStore.xml

    MarketingViewer

    OrdersAuthorizationStore.xml

    OrdersViewer

    ProfilesAuthorizationStore.xml

    ProfileAdministrator
