    You cannot edit this box.

    Campaign

View the name of the campaign.

You cannot change the campaign for this advertisement.

    Ad Name

Type the name for the ad.

To help distinguish between house ads and paid ads, we recommend that you use a distinct naming convention for the two types of ads. For example, you can use "Business Books_HA" for a house ad and "Business Software_PA" for a paid ad.

    Type

Select the type of advertisement you want from the drop-down list. The following types are available:

    • Paid Ad. An advertisement that is served with specific delivery goals.

Commerce Server 2009 determines when to serve an ad based on a Need of Delivery (NoD) calculation that considers the total quantity of content (number of ads) to be delivered, and the length of the time during which the ad must be served.

    • House Ad. An advertisement that is served when paid ads are ahead of their Need of Delivery schedule. You use a house ad to sell leftover inventory at discounted prices.

    Description

Type a description for the advertisement.

    Industry ID

Select the industry for the advertisement from the drop-down list.

You select an industry for the advertisement to prevent two ads from competing companies in the same industry from appearing on the same page.

    Display Type

Select the type of display you want for the advertisement from the drop-down list.

    Dd442787.alert_note(en-US,CS.90).gifNote:
To modify these display types to suit your business needs, contact your site developer.

    The following options are available:

    • Image. An image linked to the designated Web page(s) on which the advertisement is scheduled to appear. Customers see the image when they visit the Web pages where you display the advertisement.

    • Text. Content composed of text only. Customers see the text when they visit the Web pages where you display the advertisement.

    • HTML. Content composed of HTML code. Customers see the resulting text when they visit the Web pages where you display the advertisement.

    • Non-Clickable Image. A graphical image that customers see when they visit the Web pages where you schedule the advertisement to appear. The advertisement is not linked to a Web page.

    • Buy Now. This option enables customers to purchase goods from any Web page on the Internet. When a customer clicks a product image, a dialog box appears that prompts the customer for shipping address and credit card information.

    • Windows Media Services. This option displays high quality audio and video advertisements.

    • Left Vignette. A vignette that is composed of text that you display to the left of the image where you display the advertisement.

    • Right Vignette. A vignette that is composed of text that you display to the right of the image where you display the advertisement.

This box appears if you selected House Ad as the ad type.

Type the value for the weight of the house ad.

    Quantity Ordered

This box appears if you selected Paid Ad as the ad type.

Type the number of ad click goals for the advertisement.

    Dd442787.alert_note(en-US,CS.90).gifNote:
Changing the quantity ordered may cause a mismatch between the campaign-level goals and the item-level goals. The Marketing System does not ensure that the campaign-level goals and the item-level goals add up. The Marketing System only honors the item-level goals when it displays the advertisements. We recommend that you verify that the campaign-level goals are still met on the Goaling tab on the Campaign Properties screen.

The Marketing Manager user interface does not display the advertisements or discounts that the Marketing System has already displayed.

    Date Received

Type or select the date the advertisement will be received from the drop-down calendar.

This box contains the current date as the default. Date and time are in local time.

    All Day

Select this option if you want the advertisement to run 24 hours a day.

To edit the pages on which your ads appear

    Use this

    To do this

    Page Groups

View the list of pages on which your advertisements will appear on the Web site.

    Page Groups: All

Click to open the Page Group dialog box to add a new page group.

    Page Groups: Remove

Click to remove the selected page group(s).

    Target Expressions

You can bundle several target expressions in order to display an advertisement to a specific group of users.

You can specify whether certain users are required for, or excluded from, the group. For example, in a target group that consists of animal owners, you can specify that cat owners are included but dog owners are excluded by applying actions to the target expressions.

You combine expressions by specifying the action to be taken when each expression evaluates to "True." Each action has two multipliers: a multiplier to apply if the expression is true, and a multiplier to apply if the expression is false. When the multiplier is applied, the expression is given a score that affects whether the content is eligible for delivery.

    Dd442787.alert_note(en-US,CS.90).gifNote:
The Marketing System provides default values for the multipliers. To override or configure these multipliers to suit your business needs, contact your site developer.

    Action

Select the type of action to be taken from the drop-down list. The following options are available:

    • Target. Use in situations that have a limited population of the property available, but the user wants to buy many requests.

If the target expression evaluates to "True," the score is increased. If the expression evaluates to "False," the score is not changed. In both scenarios, the content is eligible for delivery.

The default match multiplier is 1.2. The default mismatch multiplier for the Target action is 1.0.

    • Sponsor. The advertisement associated with the target group will be exclusively displayed on the site.

If the expression evaluates to "True," the content is eligible for delivery and no other content is eligible unless it too has an expression with action = Sponsor.

The default match multiplier is always 1.0. The default mismatch multiplier for the Sponsor action is always zero (0). You cannot override these values.

    • Require. The group of users in the target expression will be included in the target group.

If the expression evaluates to "True," the content is eligible for delivery; if it is "False," the content is not eligible for delivery.

The default match multiplier is 1.0. The default mismatch multiplier for the Require action is zero (0).

    • Exclude. The group of users in the target expression will be excluded from the target group.

If the expression evaluates to "True," the content is not eligible for delivery; if it is "False," the content is eligible for delivery.

The default match multiplier is zero (0). The default mismatch multiplier for the Exclude action is 1.0.

      Dd442787.alert_note(en-US,CS.90).gifNote:
It is possible for customers to see an ad even if the customers do not meet the targeting criteria. If you do not want customers to see a particular ad, use the Exclude property.

You cannot edit this box if you do not select a local target expression.
