How to Create a Project for Staging the IIS Metabase
This topic provides instructions for how to create a project to stage the Internet Information Services (IIS) metabase by using the Commerce Server Staging (CSS) Microsoft Management Console (MMC).

Follow these steps to create an IIS metabase project.
Note
In order to create projects, you must have permission to administer CSS or the project. You have permission if you are a member of the CSS Administrators group.
To create a project on the source staging server to stage the IIS metabase
Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 , and then click Commerce Server Staging.
In the Commerce Server Staging console, in the left pane, expand Commerce Server Staging, expand <server name>, right-click Projects, point to New, and then click Project.
In the New Project dialog box, type a name for the staging project, and then click OK.
In the Project Type dialog box, click Deploy content from a local directory, and then click Next.
In the Commerce Server Staging<computer name><project name>Properties dialog box, on the Project tab, select Metabase deployment, and then click Advanced.
In the IIS Metabase Deployment dialog box, from the drop-down list, select the Web site that is associated with the settings that you want to stage, and then click OK.
In the Commerce Server Staging<computer name><project name>Properties dialog box, configure the other project settings and then click OK. Note the following:
For the source staging server, add as many Destinations as you have endpoints in the staging topology. For information about how to add a destination, see How to Add a Destination to an IIS Metabase Project
For the endpoint server, do not add any Destinations.
Ignore the properties provided in the Filter, Advanced, and IIS tabs. These properties do not apply to staging the IIS metabase.
(Optional) Set the properties on the Email, Scripts, and Security tabs. For information about how to set these properties, see Changing the Properties Common to All Staging Projects.
