Managing Languages and Regional Settings for the Microsoft Dynamics NAV SharePoint Client

This topic describes how to configure the language and regional settings for the Microsoft Dynamics NAV SharePoint client.

Managing Languages

Like the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client, the Microsoft Dynamics NAV SharePoint client supports multiple language versions of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. To enable Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 in another language, you install the language module for that language. A language module contains translated text stings for the user interface of pages and reports, the Microsoft Dynamics NAV database, and Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server, such as for logs and error reporting. After you install a language module, you configure the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Portal Framework to use the language.

Note

Language modules only translate text strings that are shown in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV SharePoint client. To translate other areas of SharePoint, you must install SharePoint language packs.

Installing a Language Module

You can obtain language modules from Language Modules for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 (requires PartnerSource account). After you obtain a language module, you install its components on the computers that are running the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Portal Framework, Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server, and Microsoft Dynamics NAV database.

For information about how to install a language module, see How to: Install Language Modules.

Changing the Language

Unlike the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client, you cannot change the language from the Microsoft Dynamics NAV SharePoint client UI. The language version of the page or report that is served is determined by the Language setting in the web.config file of the SharePoint application that is running Microsoft Dynamics NAV Portal Framework. To change the language, you modify the Language setting in web.config file.

For more information, see Configuring Microsoft Dynamics NAV Portal Framework.

Configuring Regional Settings

The regional settings determine the time zone and format of data such as dates, times, numbers, currency, and so on. The regional settings for Microsoft Dynamics NAV data that is displayed in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV SharePoint client is determined by the regional settings of the SharePoint site. This differs from the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client, where the regional settings are determined by the regional settings of the computer that is running the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client.
