Job Task No. Field, Job Task Table
Contains the number of the job task you are setting up. You can enter a maximum of 20 characters, both numbers and letters.
The number identifies the job task together with the Job No.. If you have entered this number in the Job Task No. field on a journal line (for example, when you post the line), then it will be posted to the job task.
In the Job Task Lines window, you must enter account numbers in order, but in the Job Task Card window, you can enter them in any order. When you do, they will automatically be ordered so that numbers come first, then letters, then letters combined with numbers, and finally other characters.
Example
The following table demonstrates a task numbering scheme for a computer installation job.
Each number must be unique. You cannot use the same account number twice. You can set up as many job tasks as you need.
Task Number | Description |
---|---|
1000 |
Computer Installation |
1010 |

By design, there is a large gap between job task numbers in the example. This is done so that you can insert additional job tasks later on. In this example, the grouping of job tasks ends in 00 and job tasks within the group ends in 0.
You cannot fill in the other fields in the Job Task Lines window until you have entered a number in the Job Task No. field.
