Type Field, Sales Line Table

Specifies the type of entity that will be posted for this sales line, such as Item, Resource, or G/L Account. The type that you enter in this field determines what you can select in the No. field.

Note

You cannot post a sales document if all the lines contain text only. At least one line must contain a quantity and an amount, so at least one line must contain an item, a resource, a fixed asset, an item charge, or a G/L account.

Options

Option Description

Blank

Specifies that you want to enter text in the Description field only. All other fields can be empty. This is useful if you want to make a comment about the line above.

Account (G/L)

Specifies that the sales line will post directly to the G/L account that you select in the No. field.

Item

Specifies that the sales line is for an inventory item of which you are selling units.

Resource

Specifies that the sales line is for a resource number for which you are selling time. For more information, see Invoice Jobs.

Fixed Asset

Specifies that the sales line is for a fixed asset that you are selling. For more information, see Dispose of or Retire Assets.

Charge (Item)

Specifies that the sales line is for an item charge, such as a freight expense. For more information, see Assignment of Item Charges to Sales Documents.
