Migrating Applications to Live Communications Server 2005 with SP1

Applications built targeting Live Communications Server 2003 can be deployed on Live Communications Server 2005 with SP1 as is, except for those applications that invoke the Response.clone method. Those applications must have the invocation removed and recompiled, as the method has been removed from the API in Live Communications Server 2005 with SP1.

Developers or administrators wishing to take advantage of API changes made in Live Communications Server 2005 with SP1 must make application modifications. MSPL applications must be changed to reference the new schema. Managed code applications must be compiled against the new library.

MSPL and the managed code library now use the xmlns tag on the application manifest node to distinguish between Live Communications 2003 and Live Communications Server 2005 with SP1 server applications. A Live Communications Server 2003 application should see the same behavior of both MSPL and managed code on Live Communications Server 2005 with SP1 as they did in the earlier release.

For more information on the xmlns tag, see Application Attributes
