Microsoft Speech Platform
SPPARTOFSPEECH
SPPARTOFSPEECH lists the parts-of-speech categories used in the Microsoft Speech Platform. The enumeration indicates the part of speech of a word being added to or removed from a lexicon. For example, the word is noun or a verb, and so on. SPPARTOFSPEECH supports look-ups from the standard Speech Platform lexicon. A word's part of speech can help text-to-speech (TTS) engines to determine the correct pronunciation for ambiguous words, based on their context.

Elements
- SPPS_NotOverriden
The part of speech is already present in the lexicon and should not be overridden. - SPPS_Unknown
The part of speech is unknown. - SPPS_Noun
The part of speech is noun. - SPPS_Verb
The part of speech is verb. - SPPS_Modifier
The part of speech is modifier. - SPPS_Function
The part of speech is function. - SPPS_Noncontent
The word generally has no semantic value, and its absence from an utterance in a context-free grammar (CFG) may not matter. For example, if the word "the" was non-content, then a grammar that is insensitive to non-content words would treat the utterances "play the Beatles" and "play Beatles" identically. - SPPS_SuppressWord
The word should not be recognized.
