How to Assign Software Updates and Software Update Bundles to Publications

Use this procedure to assign a software update or a software update bundle to a publication. You can assign software updates and bundles to existing publications or to a new publication.
To assign software updates and software update bundles to a publication
In the Updates Publisher 2011 console, click Updates. The workspace is displayed at the bottom of the navigation pane in the console.
Locate the software update or bundle that you want to assign to a publication using the following methods:
Click All software updates to display all the software updates and bundles in the Updates Publisher 2011 repository.
Click a manufacturer folder to see only those software updates and bundles that are related to the manufacturer.
Click a product folder to see only those software updates and bundles that are related to a product of a manufacturer.
Use Search to list only those software updates and bundles that include the search term.
Select the software update or bundle that you want to assign to a publication
On the Home tab, click Assign.
In the Publication type box, specify what content you want to publish. Select Full Content to publish the full content of the software update. Select Metadata only to publish only the metadata of the software update.
To assign the software update or bundle to existing publications, click Assign software update to existing publications, and then select the publications.
To assign the software update or bundle to a new publication, click Assign software update to a new publication, and then enter the name for the publication.
Click OK to assign the software update or bundle to the publications that you specified.
Once you have assigned software updates and bundles to publications, you can manage those publications in the Publications workspace. For more information about managing publications, see Managing Publications.
