Description
Specifies how many times an unacknowledged Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) packet is retransmitted before the connection is dropped.
This entry lets you configure a limit on PPTP retransmissions separately from the limit for regular TCP retransmissions, which is stored in the value of the TcpMaxDataRetransmissions entry. You can then adjust the TCP setting to prevent denial-of-service attacks (also known as SYN flooding) without affecting PPTP traffic.
Tip
- To prevent the TCP dead gateway detection feature from inadvertently disconnecting a congested Internet link, set this value higher than the default value of the TcpMaxDataRetransmissions entry.
