Rename a .NET Profile Property (IIS 7)
Applies To: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista
Rename a .NET profile property when you want to better associate it with the profile data being stored. For example, if you have a .NET profile property called Number and you want to better associate it with the United States ZIP Code part of a person's address, you could rename it to ZipCode.

To rename a .NET profile property
You can perform this procedure by using the user interface (UI), by running Appcmd.exe commands in a command-line window, by editing configuration files directly, or by writing WMI scripts.
User Interface
To Use the UI
Open IIS Manager and navigate to the level you want to manage. For information about opening IIS Manager, see Open IIS Manager (IIS 7). For information about navigating to locations in the UI, see Navigation in IIS Manager (IIS 7).
In Features View, double-click .NET Profile.
On the .NET Profile page, select the .NET profile you want to rename, and then click Rename in the Actions pane.
In Features View, in the Name column, type the new name of the .NET profile, and then click outside the name box.
Command line
To rename a .NET profile property, use the following syntax:
appcmd set config /commit:MACHINE /section:profile /properties. [name='string'].name: string
The variable name string is the name of the property that you want to change. The variable **name:**string is the new name for the property that you want to change.
