Upgrading to a newer Visual Studio

If you have previously installed the Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP SDK and want to upgrade to a newer version of Visual Studio, complete the following procedure:

  1. Install the new version of Visual Studio.

    Install the new version of Visual Studio that you are moving to, such as Visual Studio 2010.

  2. Start the Visual Studio Tools SDK installer.

    Start the installer by running the VSToolsSDK.exe. The updated components for Visual Studio Tools will be installed.

  3. Close the installer.

    When the installer has finished updating components, click Finish.

  4. Change the Visual Studio Tools installation.

    In Programs and Features, choose Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP SDK. Click Change.

  5. Add a new feature.

    Click Add/Remove Features to add a new feature to the Visual Studio Tools installation.

  6. Install the Visual Studio templates.

    Mark the option to install the Visual Studio templates for the version of Visual Studio that you are using, and then click Next. Click Install to begin the installation process.

  7. Finish the installation.

    Click Finish to complete the installation.
