To change the colors used for syntax coloring

  1. Choose Options from the Tools menu.

  2. Choose the Format tab.

  3. Select the type of window for which you want to define formatting in the Category list.

  4. Select the font you want in the Font list.

The Font list displays the different fonts installed on your system. The text sample in the Sample box changes to the font you select.

  5. Select the size to be used with the font you selected in the Size list.

The Size list displays the sizes available for the selected font. The text sample in the sample box changes to the size you select.

  6. Select the type of text you want to color in the Colors list.

  7. Select a foreground color in the Foreground list.

  8. Select a background color in the Background list.

  9. Choose OK.

The Foreground and Background lists display the 16 standard colors and the Automatic setting. The text sample displayed in the Sample box changes to the color that you select.

The behavior of the Automatic setting depends on the type of element selected in the Colors list.

For an element that maps to a standard system element, such as Text Selection, the Automatic setting sets the element to the appropriate system color.

For an element that does not map to a standard system element, the Automatic setting specifies the use of the color from the corresponding element in the Source Windows category.
