    Another thing to note is that it won't go and show your icon in the address bar on its own; you have to have the site in your Favorites. (Pre-IE7, at least.)

    Storing it in /favicon.ico has the additional benefit of removing 404 errors from downlevel IE users adding your site to their favorites.
