HKCUuseDefaultOverscanMargins

Applies To: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Vista

HKCUuseDefaultOverscanMargins specifies whether to use the default overscan margins for the current user.

Values

true

Use overscan margins that are optimized for using Windows® Media Center on a television.

false

Use overscan margins that are optimized for using Windows Media Center on a personal computer. This is the default value.

Note

We recommend enabling the HKCUuseDefaultOverscanMargins setting on personal computers so that the edges of the Windows Media Center are not cut off by the bezel of the television. Microsoft does not recommend this adjustment on computers designed to be connected primarily to a monitor because the adjustment is not needed and results in minor visual artifacts along the edges of the screen.
