Trial Balance by Period (report)

The Trial Balance by Period report shows general ledger (G/L) accounts with a starting balance, and the closing balances for 12 accounting periods. You can filter the report by dimensions.

You can select an indentation level to view a summary of more details from your chart of accounts.

Use cases

Financial accountants use the report to:

  • Verify the accuracy of the financial data. Review the movements in the selected period of month, quarter, or year, and ensure that the closing balances match the expected values.
  • Identify discrepancies or errors in financial data and investigate them.
  • Use the report data to prepare financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Financial analysts use the report to:

  • Analyze financial performance over specific periods by reviewing the movements in the selected period of month, quarter, or year, and identifying trends and variances.
