Issue:

Unable to open/upload the pictures from document library. Getting the following error “The URL '<Doc lib>/File name' is invalid. It may refer to a nonexistent file or folder, or refer to a valid file or folder that is not in the current Web”

Cause:

DocAvepoint V5.0 Media Library connecter was not configured properly on one WFE.

Environment:

· Microsoft SharePoint 2010

· 1 APP/WFE + 1 WFE

· Windows server 2008

· DocAvepoint V5.0

Steps taken to Identify the Root cause:

· Identified the WFE which is causing the issue by browsing the site directly on the server.

· Enabled the SharePoint verbose logs on the Central Administration –> Monitoring –> Configure Diagnostic logging.

· Reproduced the issue and collected the log files.

· Analysed the logs using correlation ID and found the following unexpected error:

w3wp.exe (0x304C) 0x34A4 SharePoint Foundation General ag0s Unexpected SPFarm.ExternalBinaryStoreClassId is set to {93227a84-1e52-47f4-b758-210d37433b7f} but class is not registered. Exception = System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {93227A84-1E52-47F4-B758-210D37433B7F} failed due to the following error: 80040154. at System.RuntimeTypeHandle.CreateInstance(RuntimeType type, Boolean publicOnly, Boolean noCheck, Boolean& canBeCached, RuntimeMethodHandle& ctor, Boolean& bNeedSecurityCheck) at System.RuntimeType.CreateInstanceSlow(Boolean publicOnly, Boolean fillCache) at System.RuntimeType.CreateInstanceImpl(Boolean publicOnly, Boolean skipVisibilityChecks, Boolean fillCache) at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type, Boolean nonPublic) at Microsoft.SharePoint.A... 96e3b4ac-f4d8-4b62-a4dd-ce76c09cfafb

· Checked the missing Component using CLSID in the component Management and found that It was AvePoint External storage Component which was not configured properly on that WFE.

Solution:

· Repaired the DocAvePoint on the server and reconfigured the Media Library on the WFE.

· Did IISRESET on the server and we were able to upload/download the pictures/documents from the document library.

    Thanks for the great article. We are facing the same issue on MOSS 2007 64-bit platform. When I checked the SPFarm.ExternalBinaryStoreClassId, it displayed the same Class ID. We have DocAvePoint 5.0 installed. Note: The images in the post are not visible. It requires some user name and password.

    as we are facing same problem, wfe server shows media library as a red color, how can i fix the issue . please give response as early as possible , we are also contacted with Doc Ave support team, but unable answer .

    I use an alternative "Long Path Tool" search and download it aguaranteed fix for this erors.
