Bin Code Field, Prod. Order Line Table

Specifies the bin that the produced item is posted to as output and from where it can be taken to storage or cross-docked. For information about warehouse handling of produced items, see How to: Put Away Production Output.

When you refresh a production order or a production order is created or changed by the planning system, then the Bin Code field is filled from other bin code fields in the following order. If a field does not contain a bin code, then the code is copied from the next prioritized field.

  1. From the Bin Code field on the production order header.

  2. From the From-Production Bin Code field on the work center or machine center that is used on the last production order routing line.

  3. From the From-Production Bin Code field on the work center that is a parent of the machine center that is used on the last production order routing line if that machine center does not have a from-production bin code defined.

  4. From the From-Production Bin Code field on the location card.

Note

The bin code in the Bin Code field on production order lines cannot be of bin type SHIP and RECEIVE. This makes sure that production output is not accidentally placed in the receipt or shipment area.

Additional Information

This bin code is copied to the Output Journal or Production Journal window where it defines where the output is posted to. For more information, see How to: Register Consumption and Output.

You can set up the location with a standard bin structure to manage the flow of produced items from the production area to the storage area. For more information, see the From-Production Bin Code field on the location card.

You can also set up individual machine or work centers with a standard bin structure to manage the flow of produced items from that production resource to the storage area. For more information, see the From-Production Bin Code field on the location card.

Note

From-production bin codes that are defined on machine and work centers override from-production bin codes defined on the location card.
