Creating a Custom Shortcut in Component Designer

5/10/2007

You can create a custom shortcut in Component Designer by adding a shortcut resource to your component.

If you create a separate component for your shortcut, you must make your shortcut component dependent on the component that has the executable file.

To create a custom shortcut in Component Designer

  1. In Component Designer, open your component.

  2. Expand the component node in which you want to create a shortcut.

  3. Right-click Resources and choose Add, and then Shortcut. The Add Component Resources window appears.

  4. Type a name for the shortcut.

  5. In the Extended properties section, type the values for the following properties: DstName, DstPath, TargetPath, Overwrite, WindowStyle.

For additional information about these properties, see Start Menu Shortcuts.

  6. To add the shortcut to the component, choose Add. To close the Add Component Resource window, choose Cancel.

  7. Save the component and import it to the database.
