Obtaining a Certificate

Using the Enterprise Web Pad image on a CEPC or Emulator that you created and downloaded, you can obtain a certificate from a Windows 2000 Certificate Server.

To obtain a certificate

  1. From the Start menu of the CEPC device, choose Run.

    - or -

From the Start menu of the Emulator on your development workstation, choose Run.

  2. In the Run dialog box, type enroll -s<Server Name>, where <Server Name> is the name of a certificate server on the Windows XP network, then choose OK.

Note   Do not use a space between -s and <Server Name>.

If the Windows CE client does not have the user credentials stored on it, a Windows logon dialog box appears.

The -s option with Enroll.exe causes the application to ignore the Enroll.cfg configuration file.

  3. Type your Windows networking user name, domain, and password, and then choose OK.

If you get a dialog box asking about a root store, choose YES.

A Certificates dialog box with a message that indicates successful enrollment will appear.

  4. To close the dialog box, choose OK.

To verify your new certificate, see Verifying the Existence of a Certificate.
