How to Configure the Web Server
Microsoft® Windows® CE .NET includes the Web server feature. You can create a Windows CE-based device that functions as a Web server and enables clients to retrieve Web-based files, and makes use of the Internet for communication between client devices, network printers, scanners, and other shared equipment.
Setting up a Web server requires special security considerations. This document shows how to use the registry to optimize security when you configure your Web server. This document also shows how to connect a client computer to the Web server and configure the Web server by using the Web-based network configuration utility included with Windows CE.
Hardware and Software Requirements
This document makes the following assumptions:
- Your Platform Builder installation includes CEPC x86 and Emulator x86 board support packages.
- You have a CEPC already configured. For more information, see How to Set Up a CEPC and How to Use the IDE to Create, Customize, and Build a Platform.
- The computers you are using for this scenario are connected to an existing public network through a hub.
The following table shows the devices that are required for this network.
