Building and Transferring an OS Image to a Hard Disk Drive

To copy your OS image to the hard disk drive, add a driver and a file system for your hard disk drive to your OS image. Once the OS image resides on your hard disk drive, you can boot the OS image without a connection to Platform Builder.

To build and transfer an OS image to the CEPC hard disk drive

  1. Build an OS image with ATAPI support.

For more information about building OS images, see Building a Platform.

  2. Add ATAPI support to your OS image, from the Catalog, add Device Drivers\Storage Devices\Storage Devices\ATAPI PCI/IDE Storage Block Driver to your platform.

For more information about adding features to you platform, see Adding a Feature from the Catalog.

  3. Restart the CEPC, and from your development workstation, download the OS image.

For more information about downloading an OS image, seeDownloading an OS Image to a Target Device.

  4. After the OS image download completes, on your CEPC, use Windows Explorer to copy the OS image file (Nk.bin) from the Release directory to the Hard Disk directory.

To simplify finding the OS image file on your CEPC, in the Windows CE File Explorer, from the View menu, choose Folder Options, and then clear the Hide File Extensions check box.
