Smart Card Database Management Functions
The following table shows the functions that manage the smart card database, updating the database by using a specified resource manager context.

| SCardForgetCardType | Removes a smart card from the system; this function is useful for smart card installation programs. |
| SCardForgetReader | Removes a reader from the system; this function is useful for reader installation programs. |
| SCardIntroduceCardType | Introduces a new smart card to the system; this function is targeted at smart card installation programs. |
| SCardIntroduceReader | Introduces a new reader to the system; this function is useful for reader installation programs. |
**Note **Database security is maintained by placing access restrictions on the database, instead of by adding security mechanisms to the smart card subsystem.
