currently using windows 10 and because it is affected by windows updates, a confirmation always appears to switch to windows 11.

My device is not strong enough to use windows 11.

I've searched the internet but after a while windows update is active again, so I want to completely turn off windows update

You really have to wonder why the tight controls on Windows updates, and the strong wording of the warnings; "Required updates need to be downloaded." Microsoft "forgets" whose computer it is and who decides when and if for the updates.

Then there's the maximum of 18 hours in setting the "active hours". This leaves 6 hours for updates! Why does Microsoft need a minimum 6 hour window to install updates??? It never comes anywhere near taking that long for updates unless they trash your installation which happens. This limitation of active hours is simply ridiculous. A thinking person must wonder, what else does Microsoft want to do to your PC during those 6 hours besides install updates ALREADY downloaded?

Then there's the Windows Updates settings with no place for the average user to turn the updates off. Where's the Disable Automatic Updates button? It's MY computer!

People with a little more knowledge can search the Internet for those special ways to disable updates, but one day you find out they are enabled again without your knowledge when hours or DAYS of work are gone after an automatic reboot! This is much worse than maddening.

Why are there so many, frequent, and constant "critical" updates anyway? What kind of OS quality is this that needs so many updates all the time??? What else are these updates doing? With the current climate in the government, one MUST wonder.

Perhaps the next update should be a different operating system.

What a minute. What happen to waiting for the user to select one of the following:

    Shut down

    Restart

    Install Updates and Shut down

    Install Updates and Restart

I use to get these 4 choices after updates were automatically downloaded to my Windows 10 machine. I didn't mind the machine automatically downloading updates, but I always wanted it to wait for me to decide whether to proceed with the install. This would give me a chance to review https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/windows/release-health/ before installing. But today, while the machine was downloading updates, I ran some errands, and when I got back several hours later, I discovered that Windows not only finished downloading the updates, but went ahead and installed them as well. Not cool.

Use Linux instead. Microsoft does not want you to own your computer. Your Windows 10 computer owns you.
