Parallelism when execution cost lower than Cost of parallelism

why is that.? my cost of parallelism is default 5

    I see now, I was confused by the yellow marker in the screen shot. Can you post the plan as XML or here: https://www.brentozar.com/pastetheplan/ ? A screenshot doesn't tell us much.

    Please don't post screenshots when I ask for XML or pastetheplan. So much potential info gets lost.

    The decision on serial or parallell is based on the serial plan, not the parallell plan. I have a feeling that you posted the parallel plan. If you force a serial plan, you can see what the subtree cost is for that.

    so if the optimizer can search for a plan that cost 2.41835, why it still generate a parallel plan ?
