I was able to get screenshare working by utilizing the XOrg version of Gnome Desktop. In latest version of Fedora, click the gear icon in lower right hand corner and log into the desktop using Xorg version of Gnome. This resolved the issue for me.
Teams for Linux desktop sharing
Teams for Linux still today (Sep 2020) lack the feature to give or request control for app sharing. The alternative solution is to fall back to pidgin/sipe when in need to collaborate in shared apps. But Skype for Business is target for removal in the IT landscape soon, thus Teams will be a crippled solutions for the 20% of users working solely in Linux. Is there any daily build channel that already push sharing feature, so that it can be tried out? Or is there perhaps at least a roadmap hinting these features might come around soon?

2021-03-16T12:37:50.863+00:00 Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (kernel 5.8.0-44-generic, Wayland is disabled), Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.4855,
I had the same problem until I uninstalled the proprietary Nvidia driver. I am currently using the open-source "xserver-xorg-video-nouveau". No more issues with screensharing.

I switched to X11 from Wayland. Screen sharing works flawlessly on Chromium (Version 91.0.4472.77 (Offizieller Build) snap (64-Bit)) and Teams App (Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.7556 (64-Bit)).

2021-11-10T17:48:56.773+00:00 Yeah, this is still an issue. Screen sharing works while on a call with someone, but I don't always want to call someone just to see their desktop or for them to see mine.
Also, it does work in an unofficial version, but it does have many of the same drawbacks as using it in a browser since that's more or less literally what it is https://github.com/IsmaelMartinez/teams-for-linux.
EDIT: Actually, it looks like it stopped working from within the browser and in Ishmael's. Haven't tried either on a call.
