It's working now after updating 6.8.12, which was released an hour ago.
Autofill not working for Microsoft Authenticator for iPadOS
I've used MS Authenticator for 2FA and as a password manager for many years with it installed on my iPhone and regular use through Edge on Windows PC.
I'm setting up a new iPad; I've installed MS Authenticator app and signed in using my outlook account - the same account I use on my iPhone and Windows PC.
When I go to sign in to anything (browser or in app), I'll receive a prompt at the top of the keyboard asking if I want to use my saved credentials for the site. This comes directly from the MS Authenticator app and is what I expect to see.
The only potentially notable difference is that I've signed in to this iPad using a different icloud account to the one I use on my phone. I suspect icloud and Microsoft account have no link however thought I'd mention it.
However, when I click on the prompt, it does nothing except replaces the option with a "passwords" link to open my default password manager.
When I click the Passwords button it comes up with a message saying to continue setup
When I click to "Open Authenticator" it shows I'm signed in and everything is configured correctly. I can't see a single difference between my iPhone that works and this new iPad.
Below is the saved password for the site I was trying to access.
Below shows my settings for Autofill are correct
Picture of the actual settings:
Things I've tried:
- Resetting the iPad to factory defaults and starting again.
- Multiple sites in browser and multiple apps - all the same result.
- Uninstalling the app, rebooting the device, reinstalling and testing again.
- Disabling autofill, rebooting, and re-enabling it
- Created a dummy entry in Apples keychain password manager - that worked.

2024-06-30T00:50:00.24+00:00 Due to Microsoft’s slow response, I started exporting my passwords and using the password feature on iOS and iPadOS. Apple’s automatic password entry is more convenient. I’ve heard that Apple’s password feature will be available on Windows in the fall, so this setup might be fine for now.
